Sherry Muir Irwin has been a professional in the search and recruiting industry since 1987. As a co-founder and managing partner of The Hunter Group LLC, she conducts searches in a wide range of fields including general management, business development, sales and marketing, engineering, manufacturing and operations, supply chain management and quality for clients in the automotive, defense, capital equipment and general manufacturing industries. Sherry began her career with General Motors in 1976, serving in a variety of roles in personnel administration & development and industrial relations at both the corporate and divisional levels. She was subsequently recruited by Landen, Wells and Associates – a consulting firm specializing in organization development and union-management relations – where she consulted with clients in the automotive, steel and aerospace industries. After transitioning into the search and recruiting field, Sherry co-founded The Hunter Group LLC as a retained executive search firm in 1995.

Professional and academic affiliations include membership in the Automotive Women's Alliance Foundation where she has served on the Board of Directors since 2009 including two terms as president from 2013-2016; the Marketing & Sales Executives of Detroit where she is a past member of the Board of Directors and vice president of PR/Communications; Inforum; Women in Defense; and the Wayne State University School of Business Alumni Association.

Sherry graduated summa cum laude from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and was the recipient of the Dow Jones/Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award. She is a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Rochester, Michigan, where she sings in the Chancel Choir, and also serves as a volunteer with the BOH-Proud Equestrian Program (an MSU Extension-Oakland County 4-H therapeutic riding program). For hobbies, Sherry enjoys golfing, swimming, horse-back riding, and collecting contemporary glass art.
